Know Your City: Organizations That You Can Learn From

Here at NYXT, we began 2019 by celebrating our 100th content partnership and we wanted to highlight the work some of our newest content partners. If you are interested in arts and education, this post is for you, highlighting the work of Art Start, Literacy Partners and Eyebeam.

Art Start nurtures the voices, hearts and minds of New York City's underserved youth through consistent creative workshops inside homeless shelters, alternative to incarceration programs, and partnering youth agencies. Watch Kissenia’s Story and learn how art can change your life’s path.

Literacy Partners supports low-income New York City families by giving parents free educational classes to instill a love of learning for both parent and child, and to endow parents with the skills to be even better providers. Watch The Power of Parents then go finish reading that book!

Eyebeam is a platform for artists to engage society’s relationship with technology. Technology’s effect on our future is always changing and difficult to understand. Through exploratory process and emotionally compelling output, Eyebeam believes that artists can help us visualize and realize a more just future. Watch Technology Should Be in Service of Poetry and meet them at their Refiguring the Future of Exhibition this February until March 31st.

If you’re up to explore, we will introduce you to City Parks Foundation, American Institute of Architects and Amazon Watch in an upcoming installment of Know Your City. If you are passionate about social justice and health, the following edition will highlight Womanity Project, Boomer Esiason Foundation, Keep a Child Alive and Positive Exposure.  All of whom at new partners on NYXT!

Keep in mind that more videos from these organizations and from all of NYXT’s video content partners can be seen on the NYXT website and on NYXT every day. You can watch them live through nyxt.nyc/live | Spectrum 1992 | FiOS38. Stay tuned!
